I couldn’t figure out how to post a reply to the response so am creating a new question. Good to know about a BT, however this one isn’t studying in the field at all! I found out he has no experience and I don’t think he even knew what ABA is. He ended up resigning effective immediately so now sessions are on hold until they find us a new BT and also a BCBA. Is that common to have a BT who isn’t committed to the field? Hopefully this was an exception and not all of their BTs are like this. Trying to give this company a chance but we’re off to a rocky start.
Answer:
Sorry for the delay in responding! Sorry that the first BT did not work out! In the field of ABA it's sometimes a 50/50 possibility of finding someone committed to the field vs. someone who "it's just a job." There is very high turnover with ABA agencies because of how demanding the job is and also that BT salaries are not great. That being said, stick with this agency for now! Your next BT could be GREAT. If it hits a month wtihout a new BT definitely talk to them. If they do not have anyone on the horizon for you then it will be time to look for a new agency. Good luck!
