I just found out that Treg’s school doesn’t permit ABA providers to come to the school to conduct sessions. He just started kindergarten and is gone most of the day. With morning pick-up around 9am and afternoon drop-off around 4:30, there isn’t much time for in-home sessions. How do parents of school aged kids fit ABA into their schedule without having sessions at school?

Thank you for your question! Unfortunately, most public schools do not permit ABA providers to come into their schools for sessions. For clients Kindergarten and older, 90% of ABA sessions occur after school. So if Treg gets home at 4:30pm, families usually give the kids 30 minutes to get settled after school and then ABA sessions would start around 5pm. Some of my home sessions would even stay until close to bedtime and assist with dinner and bedtime routine since there are usually goals embedded in those tasks (ex. meal skills, getting dressed independently, brushing teeth independently, etc.). Sessions can also occur on the weekends! I hope this helps!

Thank you, that’s good to know. I started researching and called a couple of places but was discouraged after hearing they’re not allowed in school. I’ll see if they can do evenings.
