Feeding question

Annalynne(5yo) will never touch her food or drink at school. It was the same in preschool, but now kindergarten she is full day. I don’t know if she is just so excited or has it in her mind that school is to socialize/play, but her teachers get concerned. She drinks and eats before and after school. After school she pigs out. Do you have any suggestions?

Answer:

Hi,
Thank you for your question.
I suggest examining her current school schedule to determine the times for snack and lunch. If lunch is scheduled too early or if a snack is had close to lunchtime, she might not feel hungry. Alternatively, offering a smaller snack instead of lunch might be suitable if her appetite isn't big enough for a large meal. Since she eats both before and after school, it may be more about the timing of her meals rather than an outright refusal to eat. I hope you find this helpful.
