In the digital world, the promise of ‘free’ is everywhere—from YouTube tutorials to Instagram stories and TikTok tips, there seems to be an endless supply of advice for parents of children with Autism. But when it comes to the specialized needs of our children, is this free advice truly valuable, or is it a tide pulling us further from shore? It’s tempting to fall into the rabbit hole of free resources. I’m guilty of it myself. These results are instantly accessible with a quick search or scroll and often come with the comforting endorsement of likes and shares. Yet, the “one-size-fits-all” (which really is “one size fits none”) nature of these platforms means they rarely address the specific needs of your child or the specific challenges you face as a parent. In fact when you are “swimming” in all the “free”, what you are actually doing is nothing to help your child now. Every hour spent, reading, watching, and half-ass testing another “generalized strategy” is an hour lost from engaging in targeted, effective methods designed for you and your child. Autism is a SPECTRUM. It demands more than generic advice. What works for one child might be entirely ineffective or detrimental for another. As an autism mom and a life coach, I’ve seen firsthand the transformation that tailored strategies can bring. Personalized advice is like a lifeline thrown across the overwhelming sea of general tips. It’s crafted to RESPECT and RESPOND to your child’s unique needs and your family’s specific circumstances. Relying solely on general tips from social media and other free sources only delays progress and keeps you in the “Hunt” vs taking meaningful action to help your baby now. Guidance from people who have not just walked in your shoes but solved the problem you have helps you navigate the complexities of autism with strategies that are customized for your child’s growth and your peace of mind. This isn’t about working with me (although I know I’m one of the best). It’s snapping you out of drowning in free and not MOVING for your baby now. The sea of free resources is vast and deep. Yet without a focused map, we risk drifting aimlessly, potentially costing our children precious time in their developmental journey. It’s time to anchor ourselves with professional, personalized guidance leading to lasting progress. Xo Michelle P.S.
