Potty Training 8+

I was not able to join the Potty Training class today. So I am implementing the strategies with my son – i have installed a shelf with new books, his favourite toys and even a Santa Claus in the bathroom. He can see it but he cannot reach it. He likes them and wants them all so i think this motivation is in place and he knows that he will only receive them if he uses the potty correctly for pooing. He talk about it all the time and what he needs to do to get his gift. He throws his towel at the gifts hoping one will fall so I know he loves the gifts but he has not yet pooed in the potty. Wondering what other strategies i need to be doing to keep the motivation high and see if he will make an attempt.
Thanks

Answer:

What is his schedule like when it comes to pooping? Right now does he sit to pee or stand? Will he sit happily anytime you ask him?

We want to restrict movement and take him to the potty more during the window of time he usually poops. I would be watching his tells closely, ie: trying to hide to do it, hunching over, farting etc and as soon as you see it take him to the bathroom. If you do and nothing happens the next time you see the tells wait a second or 2 longer and then take him. There is a point of no return when it comes to poop so we want to get the timing right. Let me know if you have any questions.
